Festival of national horse competitions
Initially, the Karakalpaks led a semi-nomadic lifestyle. As many neighboring peoples, for the ancestors of the Karakalpaks, horses were an inseparable part of everyday life.
Nowadays, a number of traditions associated with horses and the art of riding have been preserved. Vivid examples are national equestrian games and competitions, such as “Ilak oyin”, “Kiz kuu” (Bride theft), “Tenge alu” (coin catching) and etc. All these you can see in annual Festival of national horse competitions in Muynak.
