From May 28 to 31, 2025, a large-scale youth ecological action titled "Train to the Aral Sea" took place in the Republic of Karakalpakstan. This initiative was implemented with the support of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Committee for the Development of Tourism, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovations, and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
The action brought together 500 active and initiative-driven young boys and girls from all regions of Uzbekistan.
Participants of the action began their journey by exploring the rich cultural heritage of the Aral Sea region. They visited the Karakalpak State Museum of Art named after I.V. Savitsky and the State Museum of History and Culture of Karakalpakstan in Nukus, where they immersed themselves in the unique atmosphere of art and history.
As part of the program, the guests went to the Karakalpak State University named after Berdakh, where a vibrant festival of friendship among nations titled "We Are Children of One Family!" took place. This event became a symbol of unity and peace, gathering representatives of various cultures, united by the spirit of tolerance and shared responsibility for the future of the region.
Against the picturesque backdrop of the "Doslyk" canal waterfront, a concert program unfolded for the residents of the republic and invited guests from the region. The sounds of music and the effects of light created an atmosphere of uplifted spirits, leaving all participants with pleasant memories of the evening.
The youth also traveled to Muynak as part of the "Orol bizniki" project. Here, the participants familiarized themselves with the Museum of the History of the Aral Sea, the famed cemetery of ships, and memorial complexes that serve as reminders of the large-scale ecological disaster in the region.
Particular attention during the action was given to practical environmental activities. As part of the national project "Yashil Makon", students participated in ecological programs such as “Aral Forest” and “Green Aral Sea”, planting species resilient to saline and sandy conditions. These activities aimed at restoring ecosystems and combating desertification in the Aral region.
Additionally, the participants prepared presentations on topics related to ecology, climate change, and sustainable tourism. They attended educational seminars and training sessions, exchanging experiences and suggestions for improving the ecological situation in the region.
The "Train to the Aral Sea" project became an important step in developing ecological tourism in Uzbekistan. It seamlessly combined environmental protection activities with cultural education, engaging the youth in the study and preservation of the unique Aral Sea region.
This significant initiative aimed to raise awareness about the pressing issues of the Aral Sea region and to foster a conscious attitude toward ecological matters among young people, as well as to encourage active participation in the preservation and restoration of the region's natural heritage. The action not only drew attention to the problems of the Aral Sea but also helped shape a new generation of environmentally conscious and socially active citizens.
